Robotics streamline PAC Machinery’s end-of-line bagging applications

At Pack Expo Las Vegas, PAC Machinery demonstrated an automatic bagging system with integrated robotics that are designed to simplify warehouse operations and part assembly.
The California-based company partnered with MSD Sales to showcase equipment that combines flexible end-of-line performance, sustainability, and efficiency.
“Packagers are looking at different types of packaging materials, and they want to future-proof their investment in automation. They want machines that are either material agnostic or will allow them to work with whatever’s the next great paper,” said Greg Berguig, president of PAC Machinery, during an interview with Packaging OEM.
Streamlining the kitting process
For high-precision part building, sorting, and assembly, PAC Machinery connected its Rollbag R785, an all-electric tabletop auto bagger, with a KitAmatic part-management system from MSD Sales.
The demonstration included vision-guided robotics, a circular feeder, and software to automate a labor-intensive process.
“Kits are typically very manual processes… [but]the robot is able to do that,” said Berguig.
The R785 includes a thermal transfer printer for on-the-bag printing and pairs with the KitAmatic system for direct bag encoding. The application enables simultaneous multi-part assembly, sorting, and inspection, helping reduce human effort while increasing efficiency.

Finding the right business partner
Berguig says PAC Machinery carefully selects partners with proven expertise for project collaborations.
“We’ve tried to find integration partners who are really good at what they do,” he said. “Are they somebody that meshes well? Are they able to work with us? It’s really important to find that.”
By working alongside MSD Sales, PAC Machinery brought automation and sustainable materials together to streamline packaging and distribution lines.
